Pascal Duval’s creative journey started with a strong connection to drawing, something that’s remained important to him throughout his life. Over time, his art has evolved as he felt an instinctive need to express what’s inside him. These days, he balances his different creative pursuits, always looking for new ways to bring his imagination to life.
When he paints, there’s a sense of urgency, almost as if he’s trying to capture something within himself that wants to be expressed. His acrylic and oil pastel works draw inspiration from the energy of today’s society, people, pop culture, counterculture, and street culture. These pieces reflect the emotions and complexities of modern life. His style tends to be eclectic and collage-like, with glimpses of personal struggles, hopes and joy. Almost like adding doodles or stickers over something existing.
Through his choice of materials and approach, he tries to find meaning and identity in a world that’s constantly changing. His work moves between bold, expressive strokes and quieter, more reflective moments.
Pascal Duval graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and currently lives and works in Amsterdam.
