Past, Present, Future

A future fossil. It’s fascinating to think that something once roamed the earth millions of years ago, only to be buried and discovered as stone. Fossils are preserved remains, impressions, or traces of life that once was.

Today, we make 3D scans, digital impressions, and copies of these ancient objects. Stored in hard drives and shared across the vast landscape of the internet, these digital files exist alongside the ever-growing flood of information created every minute.

This sculpture is made from those digitally preserved files, extracted from ancient material. In time, even these digital and physical traces may become the fossils of the future.
